Rosacea is a chronic skin condition whereby a person experiences persistent redness and irritation on the central part of the face. Normally the cheeks are reddened. But the condition may extend to other parts like eyes, nose, forehead and neck. Generally adults are affected by rosacea. Moreover it occurs in white skinned people particularly to women. The exact cause of this skin disease is not known. But there are some signs which can indicate that a person is affected with rosacea.

If you’re anything like me, then you probably want to make sure that what you apply to your skin to keep it looking young and healthy doesn’t actually harm it. I mean, what’s the point in using skin care products when all they do it cause more troubles for your skin? Many do not know the dangers of parabens or even what they are, so let’s go over why it’s a good idea to use paraben free lotions and creams on your skin.

Parabens are substances that are used in various skin care products, predominately cheap ones. The primary use of them are as preservatives to extend the shelf life of a product. Basically, it’s only an additive to help skin care companies extend the life of their products so they won’t have to throw out product that goes bad. In a nutshell, they use parabens to make sure they pull in higher profits.

But besides being a cheap preservative, parabens come with many negative side effects. Studies suggest that they can be carcinogenic (or help cause cancer). I know, I don’t understand why they are even allowed in skin care products either.

Besides being carcinogenic, they can mess with natural estrogen levels in the body, a vital hormone (especially for women.) They can even cause skin rashes, irritation, and other allergic reactions. And because it technically a chemical substance, it can even interfere with the body’s endocrine system (which is responsible for tissue function, metabolism, and even mood.)

So let’s way out the pros and cons of parabens so see if paraben free lotions and creams are more logical to use or not, shall we?

The pros for using parabens in skin lotions and creams is that it increases the shelf life of the product and makes skin care companies more money.

As for the cons, they can very well cause cancer, allergic reactions, irritation, and interfere with your endocrine system. Basically, no benefits for the skin can come out of using them.

I think it’s safe to say that paraben free lotions and creams are the way to go. It most likely won’t say ‘paraben-free’ on a lotion or creams label, so you’ll have to check out the ingredient list to see if they have it or not. Look for “methyl,” “propyl,” ethyl,” and “butyl” paraben on the label and get your hand off of the products that contain them before you get yourself cancer! 🙂

What Are Some Ways You Can Deal With Excessive Sweating of the Head?

Are you looking for information regarding excessive sweating of the head? Are you tired of your hair and neck becoming drenched with sweat? This is a big problem faced by as much as 2% of the population. It’s not always easy to treat, either.

If you’re looking for some solutions, you will find some right here! I used to suffer from head sweating problems as well, due to anxiety, but I managed to find the right remedy to keep my scalp and hair dry! Part of my treatment involved getting help for my generalized anxiety disorder.

Before you learn about these treatments, you need to first understand the causes of excessive sweating of the head. The cause(s) may include:

• Eczema

• Hyperhidrosis

• Anxiety

• Stress

• Thyroid problems

• Menopause

• Spicy foods

• Smoking

• Certain medications

If you are in great health and don’t suffer from anxiety, then the cause of your head sweating could be from something you are eating or generalized hyperhidrosis. Sometimes the exact cause can’t be verified. Surgery is an available option, although many sufferers don’t feel that the possible risks are worth the procedure.

With that said, here are some ideas on how to control head sweating problems:

• Always try to relax your mind and body. Even a small amount of stress can cause you to break out in a sweat. If you’re a natural worrier, you can try meditating every day. You might also want to start taking yoga classes. Ask your doctor if there is any medicine you can take to help reduce your worrying and stress.

• If you suffer from forehead sweating, you can bring the problem under control by washing your forehead with a mild face wash. Make sure that it doesn’t contain a lot of chemicals. It’s better to go with an organic face wash. You can even make your own mask with cucumber juice or lime juice!

• Fenugreek is a good remedy against sweating. Soak some fenugreek in water for a few hours and then make a paste out of it. Apply the paste onto your scalp. Wait around thirty minutes and then wash it off with cold water. Fenugreek will not only reduce sweating, it will also eliminate bacteria!

• Either keep your hair short or pulled back in a ponytail. Doing so will help keep your head cooler. Keep a good absorbent cloth with you and use it to pat your forehead and neck down throughout the day. Wiping will only spread the bacteria, so be sure to gently pat the sweaty areas instead.

• Watch out for foods that contain either MSG or complex carbohydrates, as both of these are known to cause sweating. You will want to avoid eating as much as these foods as you can. Cut down on the white bread, sugary drinks, candy, cakes, sausage, parmesan, and fried chicken.

• Even though you should eliminate certain foods from your diet, you shouldn’t starve yourself. Skipping meals can cause make head sweating even worse. Eat healthy meals throughout the day to see if there is an improvement with your sweating problem.

• Shampoo and condition your hair at least five times a week. Don’t use a lot of hairspray, mousse, or styling gel, as the chemicals can contribute to the sweating problem. The idea is to keep your head as clean and fresh as possible.

Overnight Acne Treatment to Get Rid of Huge Zits

Have you ever touched your skin and felt a zit forming beneath the surface? Or, have you ever felt a huge pimple growing on your skin getting full of pus, but you “knew” that you could not squeeze it?

Well there is an overnight remedy that will help you draw out that pus-filled pimple. Here goes:


  • Essential tea tree oil (Essential eucalyptus oil will work as well)
  • Active yeast
  • Surgical tape and a cotton square or a large bandage
  • Note: Perform this treatment at night time or just before you go to sleep.

    Step 1:

    Cleanse your skin with a mild soap.

    Step 2:

    Saturate the cotton square or the cotton part of the bandage with the essential oil.

    Step 3:

    Pour a one-half a teaspoon of active yeast over the center of the cotton square. Tap down the yeast pellets to help them cling to the essential oil but do not mix the oil and yeast together.

    That’s because you want the oil and yeast to mix overnight to create a reaction that makes the pus “rise” out of your skin.

    Step 4:

    Now place the oil and yeast bandage or cotton square directly over your pimple. Use the tape to secure the oil and yeast to your skin.

    Step 5:

    Leave the bandage on over night. In the morning your pimple should be completely free of pus and gone.


    Obviously, this method is not ideal for getting a case of acne under control. This method is best for one or two isolated but HUGE ZITS. Though the technique is cumbersome, it does work. Just make sure that your bandage completely closes the oil and yeast over your pimple.

    *The larger or more pus-filled your pimple is, the larger your bandage should be. Overnight, pus will seep out of your skin and into the cotton square. Make sure you have enough cotton to absorb the evacuating pus.

    Help For Clogged & Congested Skin

    Blocked pores, dull skin, uneven skin, blackheads and whiteheads…all signs of congested skin and often affecting not just teenagers, but adults too. Also knows as open comedomes, blackheads are literally tiny plugs in the opening of a follicle or pore on the skin. The pore plug is a combination of oils, sebum and dead skin cells. Open to the skin’s surface, the plug becomes darkened as it is exposed to oxygen. Whiteheads are closed at the skin’s surface, blocked by cellular debris but not exposed to oxygen so remain light in colour.

    Blackheads, whiteheads and blocked pores are usually caused by a combination of factors. Excess skin oil, sebum and toxins that are expelled through the skin are often an underlying issue. In addition dead skin cells, pollution, occlusive make up and dirt also play a role by filling up pores already opened by sebum and oil production. Each factor will contribute to congestion in a different but significant way:

    Skin Oil & Sebum: excess oil and sebum production by the skin will contribute to clogging pores and encourage the growth of skin bacteria. When combined with external factors such as dirt, blackheads easily form.

    Toxic Congestion: blood and lymph supply the skin with nutrition. However, if the toxins that are produced in our bodies everyday are not eliminated properly, they are eliminated via the skin and can contribute to congestion as well as other issues such as acne and skin irritation.

    Dead Skin Cells: Each 3 or 4 weeks the skin replenishes the skin cells. This natural process creates a layer of dead skin cells over the surface of the skin. If not removed, the dead skin cells create dull looking skin. The other thing that may happen is that the dead cells will plug the pores on your face and create congestion and blackheads. When combined with excessive sebum production, this can lead to the formation of white-heads and black heads.

    Skin Care & Make Up: The key culprits in skin congestion are products that contain petrochemical based oils as they have an occulusive effect, stopping the skin from breathing and blocking pores. Talc, which is common in make up and finishing powder, also has this effect. Waxes and butters may also be an issue with skin prone to congestion. Make up is usually worn on a daily basis so it is essential to choose a make up that suits your skin type and doesn’t contribute to further congestion.

    Pollution & Dirt: Building up on the surface of skin over the day, pollution is a factor in the formation of blackheads and blocked pores. The more polluted the area in which you live, the more skin pollution you are likely to experience. Effective skin cleansing is vital to clean the skin of daily dirt and grime…and a splash of water at the end of the day just doesn’t cut it. Dirt that is found on our face and other parts of the body can be a breeding ground for bacteria and combined with oily skin can make things even worse. Where does the dirt come from? Dirty hands are a key culprit and those already conscious of their skin tend to pick and rub their skin more than others, just making the problem worse.

    Treatment of of Blackheads

    So, how to get rid of blackheads and congested skin? Well squeezing them out is not the answer. This technique will just lead to further skin irritation and possibly damage and scarring to the surrounding tissue. Rather than removing blackheads by squeezing, the best way to get rid of them is by attacking the source of the problem.

    1. A good cleansing routine: Cleansing the skin of daily dirt, grime and pollution is essential. A good cleansing routine is a very effective way to remove blackheads, as it will help wash away excess oil and dead skin particles. Use a gentle cleanser as harsh and overly-drying cleansers will only make the problem worse by causing an increase in sebum production. If your skin feels squeaky clean, dry and tight after washing, you are doing more harm than good and need to use a more gentle cleanser. Avoid products with Sodium laurel sulphate as this ingredient tends to disrupt the acid mantle again causing increased sebum production.

    2. Regular gentle exfoliation: one way to minimise congestion and clogged pores is to ensure the top layer skin remains clear by regularly removing the dead skin cells. There are a number of very effective products you can use to remove dead skin cells.

    Regular use of facial exfoliants or scrubs will help clear dead skin cells that block pores. Removing the top layer of dead cells will also allow your moisturiser or serum work more effectively as it comes into contact with live skin cells rather than dead ones.

    There are a couple of things to look for in a good exfoliant. The most obvious, although it is surprising how many people ignore this, is that a body scrub is too harsh to be used as a facial scrub. Look for a very fine, soft exfoliant as your facial skin is soft and delicate. A harsh scrub may actually scour the surface of your skin much like a scrubbing brush and this can actually damage skin cells. If your skin is excessively red or inflamed after use they are far too strong. Gentle exfoliants will slough off cells without a harsh scrubbing effect and are suitable to be used 2-3 times a week.

    3. Fruit Enzyme Peels: enzyme peels are another way of clearing dead skin cells. They work as a result of their ability to break the bonds between dead skin cells that form at the surface of the skin. Skin normally has a dead layer of cells at its surface (the corneocyte layer), and fruit enzymes can speed up the normal process of skin cell regeneration and sloughing. This results in increased flexibility of the skin as well as decreased formation of large dry skin flakes at the surface of the skin.

    Pumpkin, pineapple and pawpaw provide natural, gentle enzyme proteases that loosen the glue between dead skin cells, slough away impurities, dead skin cells and unplug the pores while delivering nutrition to the skin. This leaves the skin cleansed and silky smooth and reduces the likelihood of blackheads. Fruit enzyme ‘peels’ only need to be used once or twice a week for good effect.

    4. Light Moisturisers: moisturisers that use waxes, butters and petrochemical oils will be more likely to contribute to congestion in skin that is prone to blackheads. Please note that waxes and butters are perfectly suitable and definitely beneficial for those with dry or dehydrated skin but for those with congested skin, choose lotions rather than rich creams. If you have combination skin and suffer from congestion as well as dry skin, use oil based serums or hyaluronic acid to increase moisture content in the skin without contributing to further blockage.

    5. Salicylic acid and glycolic acid in high concentrations are common recommendations for skin congestion and while they might be effective in the short term they can cause significant problems and can be counter-productive to softening and dissolving blackheads as they can dehydrate dry, normal and combination skin. In addition, those with a history of use of high concentration glycolic acid can suffer redness and irritation at a later date when exposed to even mildly acidic ingredients such as ascorbic acid. If you choose to use such products, firstly use them in consultation with a skin specialist, use low concentrations, use them short term only and watch for signs of skin dehydration.

    6. Make Up: Mineral make up is an ideal alternative for those with congested skin. Rather than sinking into or filling pores, the particles of pigment sit on the surface of the skin allowing the skin to breathe properly. This helps minimise congestion and eventually, allows the pores to shrink.

    7. Dietary & Lifestyle tips: Plenty of water will help flush toxins out of your system and regular and regular exercise will keep your lymphatic system flowing. Together both these factors will help reduce the level of toxins being eliminated via the skin.

    Research conducted at RMIT University, Melbourne, has shown that a low glycemic index (GI), moderate protein diet improved symptoms of acne including the number of facial lesions. The diet consisted of 25% of energy from protein and 45% of energy from low GI carbohydrates such as fruit and vegetables, grains and pulses. While this research was conducted on patients with acne, there are strong correlations between high GI diets and skin congestion as well. Generally a high GI diet is associated with a greater degree of systemic body toxicity and inflammation and those prone to skin conditions are likely to eliminate toxins through the skin more readily.

    A diet high in vegetables, fruit, good fats, lean protein, nuts & seeds is ideal for the skin as it contains lots of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that support skin health.

For those who go to see fengshui masters or fortune tellers, they may give advice to you on your eyebrow, for example, not to trim your eyebrow too thin as they bring you bad blossom luck, etc. In actual fact, our eyebrows will affect how we are perceived by others.

    Though not everyone is blessed with perfect eyebrows, where the eyebrow hairs are nicely lined up, not too bushy nor too thin and no breakage in the eyebrow, we can definitely use eyebrow pencils to make them better.

    If your eyebrow is almost invisible and scanty, darken and give them some thickness with the eyebrow pencil. This is because they represent weak health or a weak character. By nicely giving your eyebrow shape, fengshui masters claim that one can achieve good fortune and good health as you look better and hence have more self confidence. Of course, having a stronger image will prevent you from getting bullied.

    If the pair of eyebrows join together, it indicates excessive jealousy or stubbornness in a person. As such, you may wish to trim away the center portion. You will look nicer too.

    When eyebrows are too thick or unruly, pluck and trim them to a nice neat shape. There are many fengshui advice on the shape of eyebrows but putting that aside, having neat eyebrows do enhance your entire face features and even make your eyes look sharper, so do take that into your makeup regime.
